Jesus’ Submission To The Father: Resisting Temptation

Matthew 4:1-11

Immediately after His baptism Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness where He fasted for 40 days and was tempted by the devil.  Hebrews 4:15 tells us that He “was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin”.

As we observe Jesus response to the devil how does He demonstrate His faith?

How does He demonstrate His knowledge of the word?

What other thoughts or questions do you have about the temptation of Jesus?

Jesus demonstrates His faith by knowing what the scriptures say, understanding and believing what they say and doing what they teach.

I am impressed with how “unfazed” Jesus is, in spite of having fasted 40 days, and in the other two temptations as well. He is quick and decisive and there is no consideration to the offerings of Satan.
