Today’s Reading: Exodus 25-28

Highlights of Today’s Reading:  God gives instructions for  tabernacle. This includes some of the articles that go in the tabernacle as well as the external structure of the tent. Special garments for those who will serve in the tabernacle are also revealed.

Much attention is going to be given to the tabernacle in the next few daily readings.   God is very detailed in His instructions and demands it be built exactly as revealed. The most sacred part is the “Holiest Of All” where the Ark of the Covenant was placed.

What do 25:8 and 22 tell us about the purpose of this unusual tent?  See also Numbers 7:89.

From what I am able to discern, the purpose of the tabernacle was that it was to be the dwelling place of God. Not that God would dwell there exclusively but it was the specific place that men could come and meet with God. If you look at Hebrews 8:5 it tells us that the tabernacle was a copy and shadow of what is in heaven and that is why God’s instructions were so detailed and that they had to be followed so closely. Apparently it was almost a scale model of the area around God’s throne. When we see in Hebrews 8:5 the explanation “This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain” The word pattern means an architect’s model.

A place for God to dwell with Israelites and a place to store the ark which contained God’s commandments.

  3. The scriptures confirms how God truly wants to dwell with us, within us, and speak with us. We only have to listen and prepare to receive our God.

The strict specifecations were expressed to show the importance of the place. God expects the best of everything. We are to give Him the best. The example of the tabernacle shows me that we are to come to God with honor and respect.

  5. I think the comments above sum up the questions so well! I certainly can’t add anything…
I did find I had underlined and made notes on the word pattern, too. Also tabernacle, dwelling, sanctuary, holy place.
